“Loveland: A City with HeART” Art Project Featured at Wine Tasting July 11
LOVELAND – Don’t miss the visually stimulating new community art project that will be featured Friday, July 11 at the SummerFest in the Rockies wine tasting. The hearts from the “Loveland: A City with HeART” project will be on display from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Park/Foote Lagoon, 500 E. Third Street in downtown Loveland.
The public is invited to join talented artists and sponsors as they reveal details about each heart that will be placed throughout the city of Loveland beginning July 14. Attendees will witness the spectacular hearts designed by local artists. The event is hosted by World Beverage and will feature fine wines, light refreshments courtesy of Catering to you by James, and entertainment by Hugh Jazz Combo.
Each heart is made of fiberglass and stands five feet tall and four and a half feet wide. The 12 hearts will be placed throughout the city from July through December. The project is similar to other public art projects held through the United States including cities such as Longmont, CO (geese); Cheyenne, WY (cowboy boots); Chicago, IL (cows); and Lindsborg, KS (Dala Horses).
The twelve hearts that will be on display are:

LOVELAND’S GOT TALENT APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED
LOVELAND - The second annual ‘Loveland’s Got Talent’ contest is sponsored this year by Centerra, Big Country 97.9 and 96.1 KissFM . Applications are being accepted now through the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and Engaging Loveland. More than 30 entries were received last year and event organizers look forward to more this year.
Deadline for applications and $10 entry fee is August 8th at 5 p.m. Applications may be obtained by calling the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, 667-6311 or Engaging Loveland, Inc., at 720-982-5125 or logging on to www.loveland.org, publications and forms, 2008 Corn Roast Festival, Loveland’s Got Talent contest application. There is a limit of 25 entries in each category.
Four finalists and one alternate per division will be chosen at the auditions that will take place August 16th at Centerra (8:00 a.m., Fall River Drive at Centerra). Finalists will go on to the contest that will take place during the Corn Roast Festival Saturday, August 23rd beginning at 1 p.m.
Divisions include:
Niblets: Ages 2 through 12 years
Ears: 13 through 17
Cobs: 18 years and up
Prizes will be awarded in each division. First place will receive a trophy and $200, second place receives a trophy and $100, third place will be awarded a trophy, and fourth place will receive a rosette and ribbon.
Scoring will include talent, showmanship, costume/staging, and crowd participation/interaction, so be sure to come out and cheer for your favorite contestant.

SUMMERFEST IN THE ROCKIES GOES WIRELESS
LOVELAND –SummerFest in the Rockies announces it is going wireless for the weekend of July 11-13. Wireless connection for vendors and attendees will be provided by Front Range Internet, Inc. (FRII).
“Wi-Fi from FRII is perfect for this type of thing,” says FRII’s Marketing Director, Amy Madden Copp. “To be able create a hot-spot of Wireless access is the best part about this technology.” FRII is eager to provide Wi-Fi to events, festivals and areas where a large number of vendors or attendees may need to access the Internet. Wi-Fi technology gives retail vendors the ability to run credit card machines, utilize their online ordering tools and showcase their web site at events. “We are thrilled to work with Engaging Loveland again this year and look forward to ramping up their technology for all who attend,” adds Copp.
SummerFest in the Rockies will take place at the Civic Center Park/Foote Lagoon, 500 E. Third Street in Downtown Loveland. The event will feature live music presented by Centerra, a vendor marketplace, a classic car show presented by Pedersen Toyota, family amusements, food and beverages, beer and wine garden and a special fireworks display courtesy of Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation. Friday night will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a Gourmet Wine Tasting hosted by World Beverage. Saturday and Sunday activities begin at 10 a.m.
